Purpose


These codes must be agreed upon before your night out. They provide a non-confrontational way to signal immediate danger or discomfort to your friends or venue staff.


1. 🚨 Venue Code (Staff Help)


  1. Code: "Ask for Angela"
  2. Action: Say this phrase to any member of staff (bartender, security, etc.) if you feel unsafe, harassed, or threatened by another person.
  3. Result: The staff are trained to discretely help you get away safely, such as calling a licensed taxi for you or reuniting you with your friends.


2. 🛑 Group Safe Word (Immediate Danger)


  1. Code: Choose a unique, random word (e.g., "Mustard" or "Octopus").
  2. Action: If anyone says this word, it means "DROP EVERYTHING AND LEAVE NOW."
  3. Result: No questions asked. The entire group stops what they are doing and focuses on leaving the area/venue immediately as a unit.


3. 👀 Group Check-In Phrase (Need Intervention)


  1. Code: Choose a distinct, innocent phrase (e.g., "I think I left the stove on." or "Is it time to feed the cat?").
  2. Action: Use this phrase when speaking to a friend if you are uncomfortable with the situation or person you are with.
  3. Result: Your friend knows they need to come over and subtly interrupt the situation, giving you an immediate excuse to leave.

  9. Save the number of a safe person (not on the night out) and list them as your ICE (In Case of Emergency) contact on your phone's lock screen.

How to Share Your Location via Google Maps Follow these quick steps to share your live location with a friend of family member before you head out or as you leave a venue:



  1. Open the App: Open Google Maps on your phone.
  2. Go to Profile: Tap your Profile Picture (or initial) in the top-right corner.
  3. Find the Feature: Select Location Sharing from the menu.
  4. Start Sharing: Tap the blue Share Location button.
  5. Set the Duration: Choose how long you want to share. For a night out, we recommend selecting "Until you turn this off".
  6. Pick a Contact: Select the trusted person(s) from your list, confirm, and tap Share.


The contact will receive a link allowing them to see your real-time location on their map, ensuring you are never alone on your way home.


Note: You can stop sharing at any time by returning to the Location Sharing menu and tapping Stop.
